digital kids

Kids are usually squirmy little elastic firecracker things that rarely sit down once they get going. When your body is small and healthy and overflowing with energy, and your mind is full of curiosity and anticipation for the new, then I guess it's perfectly normal. Sometimes I see kids or even babies, barely a month old, on the bus, or on the metro downtown and they are not like this at all. They are more on the frail side, less physical, maybe of asian descent, and when they look at you, you feel their mind. It's quite unsettling at first because you immediately get the impression that this little midget studying you from the comfort of their Quinny stroller might have more mental capacity than you. Little black eyes moving a mile a minute and their bodies perfectly still. As you notice the little squirt, in her onion head hat, and pacifier in mouth, she also notices you. She doesn't flinch, she just confidently stares at you down analyzing you taking it all in. These kids are different, they don't move in quick un-calculated impulses, they turn their attention to things gracefully like an adult, or even someone more civilized, studying everything. They have an attention span, and that is a magnificent thing in our day and age of electronic media distractions.

Harper, and his politics of purchasing a nation with fear. Haven't we seen this before? On TV ???

Shame on you Harper, and your politics of fear. Someone who loves their people and country does not have to resort to using those tired old American tactics on their own people. You don't need to scare your population into submission if only you would lead them with ideas, and give them something to believe in. Yes you have changed Canada, and our economy is strong and bright thanks to the exploitation in the tar sands, and in the middle east. We have been rewarded with a strong economy for dancing the same dance as our southern neighbours.. and you know what? So what? You dance their dance like I insert a loonie into the jukebox and call the song. We already know that the U.S. didn't get punished for cheating, and writing themselves a fat big check in reward for spending all their health care dollars on war in some foreign country we have no business meddling in. It's not like you actually had to think of doing something original, no. You just had to copy Bush's program and patriot act step by step like you were following the pied piper. Every step of the way, you now OWN Canadians. You didn't have to buy them with passion, and valour, and integrity, you bought them with childcare programs , and possessions made in China, and the politics of fear. You have found a way not to win the love of your nation like Kennedy, with new ideas. Thats too risky. You would rather lower the consciousness and standards of Canada into a new dark age of war, hatred, and confusion. You choose not to learn from their mistakes because someone is promising you eternal life in exchange for your stageshow. Someone looked out across the nation forty seven years ago and said, we have to find a way to quiet this nation that keeps trying to wake up. We have to abandon this idea of pleasing people with great ideas, and love... we have to scare them with engineered catastrophes, and provide them with OUR solutions to the problem. You my friend are worse than a murderer. You murder a whole nation, it's spirit, and soul. You do the devil's work. Manipulating people into places they can no longer use their own minds because they are scared. You can bet your pink frillies, you don't impress me much.

The Military State

It's no coincidence that Americans are gun crazy. Just turning on the TV is proof enough that Hollywood is pro gun-lust. It's not just some case of ah yeah that's human nature, it's also a pre-meditated effort to raise a blood thirsty nation. One must remember that a nation that spends more money abroad on foreign policy (aka foreign policing) than on their own people, is in all likelihood a military state. If you are American, you already know that guns are such an omnipresent thing and that its an inescapeable part of the U.S. psyche.

America has raised you this way no differently than a cow is fed a diet to yield high milk production. It is also imperative that you accept America's unlawful and selfish foreign interventions as normal and even heroic in nature. It is necesarry that you are raised to be confused.

The Saddest Thing

The most heartbreaking thing, has got to be watching a mother and daughter wait for a father that never shows. They are sitting in the food court downstairs, silent. They have both finished their plates now, except for one that lays there untouched. They obediently watch the escalator as it spills every new laughing man into the consumption court. The mother perks up suddenly, mistaking someone who almost resembles her now long-faced daughter's father. The little girl looks at me staring at her and tries to smile. Her entirely dedicated mother takes her now and patiently empties the full plate of food into the garbage still looking over her shoulder. I sink in my chair.

Trying to put it out of my mind, the hispanic pair re-appear again at the upper level, looking down at the sea of noisy downtown clerks and fashionistas chowing down, who are completely oblivious to the sad spotlight around them. The daughter's deep dark eyes are watery now, but still hopeful and I think... if he showed right now, their lack of faith and trust in him would be pushed aside by their joy. Their enduring love would probably forgive him again. Amazing.

With that said, the only thing sadder than this has got to be: PEOPLE WHO POST VIDEOS OF THEMSELVES ON YOUTUBE UNBOXING ELECTRONIC PRODUCTS. You are the scourge of the internet.

Eugenics

There are many states of consciousness, some more favourable than others. Unfortunately the ones that are encouraged most by governments across the world is a very depressing one, because it is the one that permits 10 billion people to repeat insignificant Hollywood bullshit mental diversions, and live together with the least conflict.

It's an astonishing feat getting 10 billion people to live together, an accomplishment for sure, even if most of them are altered to states of zombie-ness. But for the ones that would rather live a day ruling as a lion, then live an eternity as a monkey, the modern age really is getting lame.

I can say without a doubt that the prevalence of drugs today are a genetic recall or longing for the primitive days where primitive unrestrained behaviour and lifestyles though frowned upon by attempts to be civil, peaked our senses. Those experiences, though suppressed, good and bad are still alive in our blood and genes riding like wild horses with the wind in our hair aching to be free. It is not wrong or right, it is just what we feel while sitting in our drab domesticated four walls. It's just the inevitable result of being put through the pipes of the machine for the sake of building up the compression necessary for profit. The meat and potatoes of our frustration powers the hydraulics of capitalism, and fuels our need to see other frustrated insubordinates in the rock star politician media.

Hence Rob Ford. Hence whoever proceeds him. This is the pressure release valve of our strangely manipulated genetics and times.

In response to "Sleepwalking to Extinction"

I'd like to take a moment to comment on this article "Sleepwalking to Extinction", and many, MANY others like it because they are getting annoying and repetitive without sheding much of anything new on the topic. And like reliving the movie 2012 over and over again, I think the authors enjoy it too much.

I, like many others will say before me, have gone through unprecedented times of change. Since my humble childhood on the farm, there has been so much dialogue, everyone looking for a solution to our capitalist sickness when the fix for mass exploitation might be right infront of us. There was always a solution, but it was one we hated to hear like the voice of your mother, or your great, great grandmother from beyond the grave saying "I told you so". We are so doped up on everything that has been used to buy us, and lead us down the yellow brick road to the urban pleasure-island center, that we have reached this state of complete and utter denial. Lost somewhere in this virtual digital fantasy, reveling in our ramblings, we convince ourselves that we don't know the answer... when we do! We do know the answer!! Dig deep down there in the basement of your mind where you havn't been since you tied an old rubber tire to the branch of a tree for fun, and they sparkled your eyes with jetson-like visions of the future and whisked you away. The humble, simple folks in the coutryside that raised your food all this time while you raved about your egoist grandeur and inventions that would someday liberate us, but has only managed to enslave us more. Yes, you know it, it's on the tip of your tongue. Spill it. Yes, these redneck rubes will give you the antidote to your troubled existence without quoting from the lexicon of higher priced learning.

But it involves bending over and getting your hands dirty to raise for your own selves!   OH THE HUMANITY!! Going back to basics will be like rehab for the world coming down off of a century long wild drug binge. We were all farmers once, and thats where we will all inevitably end up again. It's time to go home! If you don't go willingly, mother nature will see you to it after the cataclysm then close you in your bedroom and say. "Mother is always right" <cringe>

The cult of cool

Never before has the cool industry been so dreadfully plastic and awful. All these egotistical, insincere loudmouths battling for some glow in the limelight... and now the politicians want to be entertainers too with their he-said / she-said scandals!!  But there was a time when cool wasn't a manufactured product. A subculture of young thinkers, who dream the impossible into existence. To think that John Lennon was still alive thirty some years ago.. now all you hear is Bieber this, GAGA that! Where is the main man, that boss that will fire everyone that dreadfully sucks at their job?? Where is this person?  Please fire all the people that control the radio and ensure nothing original ever makes the cut, please fire everyone in government and all these political hacks turned "scandal-entertainers" that answer to no one. Fire everyone in the FEDERAL RESERVE, fire the person who first started making amendments to the first amendment. Fire the guy who drafted the rules of engagement, and the first dairy-free ice cream dessert.

When you hear people talk of the "original cool" it insinuates that there is nothing original about the modern day manufactured counterpart. Like what the cover of Nirvana's Nevermind depicts, "cool" has been privatized and is now only attainable for your children with some shoddy materials manufactured in China, for a bloated price. Your beloveds from an early age will be taught to worship the new manufactured version of cool on TV, and how to follow it's perpetually changing store front mannequin. Is there still room for young individuals with real thoughts in this environment today?  A mental space un-phased by mental tranquilization, and corporate influence when it starts from such a goddamn young impressionable age? At what point was it decided that the original cool was such a threat to the natural order of things? Are we still capable of being rational loving parents for our kind? Then why do we apathetically submit our most precious loved ones to the most mindless commercial prey,  of our own sick machinations for capitalist profit? Why do we work so hard to raise our own, only to hand them over on a silver platter?  Here they are! Do what you will with them!!  Just make sure they earn six figures when your done with them !!!

One must ask.. are our children even ours anymore ??
